Welcome to the High School Guidance Department at
David Lipscomb Campus School
Scroll to the bottom of the page for newsletters and articles.
The Guidance office is divided into two major areas:
College Counseling: Libby Simons serves the students in the junior and senior classes. Her job focuses on all areas that lead to college placement. Mrs. Simons helps students with scheduling, ACT/SAT testing, resume preparation, college admissions, and scholarships. Last year seniors from DLHS were accepted into 34 different colleges in 13 states. Contact Libby Simons at elizabeth.simons@lipscomb.edu.
Guidance in 9th and 10th: Lisa Bruce serves students in these two grades. Ms. Bruce begins working with students in the 8th grade to prepare them for high school. After the initial ninth grade scheduling, the guidance office works with students on their classroom performance, class selections, testing that includes the PLAN and the PSAT, (sophomores and juniors), and study skills. Contact Lisa Bruce at lisa.bruce@lipscomb.edu.

TESTING INFORMATION
PLAN
Parents of current 10th grade students will receive the PLAN test results and additional information by mail the first of February.

(visit the website for practice tests and ideas to enhance student performance on test)
For quick tips on the PLAN, click here.
The PLAN is the 10th grade version of the ACT. This test is excellent preparation for the ACT which will be taken as a junior. If a student went to David Lipscomb Middle School then they took the EXPLORE test, which is the 8th grade version of the same test.
The PLAN test is given in classrooms here at school and the test takes about two and a half hours. The PLAN is divided into the same sections as the ACT.
English
Reading
Math
Science Reasoning
(Click here to see how time is allotted during the test for each subject area.)
PLAN scores range from 1-32. The results are used as an indicator of how a student will perform on the ACT. The results will come to the school and then be mailed home. If you have questions, please email me at lisa.bruce@lipscomb.edu.
ACT - www.act.org
See Mrs. Simons for more information. The ACT is divided into four major sections:
1. Reading
2. English
3. Math
4. Science Reasoning
The ACT has an optional writing section.
We highly recommend ACT prep assistance. There are a few area programs to choose from, one that we recommend is Parantur. Contact Parantur at www.parantur.com and Jacob Arthur can give you more information. The classes will meet at DLHS.
PSAT - www.collegeboard.com - offered to 10th and 11th grade students, and ninth grade students enrolled in honors classes.
The PSAT is a great way to prepare for college preparatory testing. Juniors can also qualify for the National Merit Scholarship.
